The Ted Wells report on the Jonathan Martin/Richie Incognito situation contains loads of lewd banter from the Miami Dolphins locker room alongside with countless X-rated text messages. Perhaps lost in shuffle is a text from Martin to an unnamed friend in May on page 116 of the Wells report. In the text Martin outlines the pros and cons of walking away and quitting the NFL. Among the pros Martins lists are avoiding a death from CTE.

It’s a brutally honest assessment from Martin and, above all, very sad to read.

It’s difficult not to sympathize with Martin after reading this.
