Serena Williams defeated Jelena Jankovic (6-2, 6-2) Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. During the final game of the match, Jankovic appeared to get into it with the chair umpire. On the next point, Serena appeared to stall, which further upset Jankovic. After another short conversation with the man in the tall chair, they finished the match.

Serena and Jelena shook hands and exchanged some more words before going on their separate ways. Apparently, the umpire had a problem with Jankovic’s speed of play and Jankovic and Williams had similar disagreements at past tournaments. The most notable part of the exchange was British television announcer David Mercer getting upset.

"“Oh, do shut up Jelena. It drives me insane. Serena’s not at all amused by that remark. Oh, come on. We don’t need this. That’s pathetic.”"

He must be a Serena fan.
