Karim Benzema's Goals Brought Out the Best of Ray Hudson in El Clasico
By Mike Cardillo
Karim Benzema scored a pair of goals in quick succession — each set up by Angel di Maria — to help Real Madrid take a temporary 2-1 lead against Barcelona in the first half of Sunday’s El Clasico from the Spanish capital. Right now it’s hard to tell who’s having the better match: Benzema, Di Maria or beIN Sports commentator Ray Hudson. (Benzema had a couple epic misses and could have four goals to his name in the first 45 minutes.)
Anyways, here’s how Hudson described the Frenchman’s effort, “When Benzema gets service like that, Phil, it’s like showing your neck to Dracula.” He also called a miss by Lionel Messi, with Barcelona up 1-0 on a goal by Andres Iniesta, a “garlic milkshake.” Oh right there’s been mentions of death rays, “ding-dong football,” Darth Vader and god only knows what else from the mouth of the one-of-a-kind Geordie.
Messi tied the game at 2-2 right before halftime. We’ve still got another 45 minutes left to play, too. One thing is also for certain: El Clasico doesn’t miss Jose Mourinho’s anti-soccer gameplan.
