The Big Lead Staff Comings and Goings

After five years, countless laughs and dozens of epic email chains, The Big Lead has lost its humorist/wrestling fan/hair aficionado, Tim Ryan (aka, The Sports Hernia). He’s leaving us, quitting his full-time job in advertising and taking a job with an established media outlet that is starting up a sports department. They couldn’t have picked a funnier guy to be part of the team.

Tim previously occupied the following beats on TBL: Mike Francesa, Kate Upton and Wrestling.

But it’s not all negative!

As you may have noticed, there’s been a new byline around here for a few months: Ryan Glasspiegel. He’s based in Chicago. He’s written for many, many outlets. He’ll be doing a little bit of everything around here. Drop him kind love notes in the vibrant comments section.

Next order of business: Because he didn’t get an introduction when he was hired, let’s all celebrate Mike Cardillo’s one year anniversary at The Big Lead. He started in April 2013 and just completed a banner first year with the site. (Fun fact: Cardillo is responsible for one of the most-trafficked posts on the site so far in 2014.)He’s in New York today for a big sit-down interview that you’ll want to read later this week.

And lastly, Jason Lisk, who has been with the site since 2010, has morphed into a new role in 2014: From NFL writer to Managing Editor. Along with me, he’ll be doing more editing, generating story ideas, and helping produce big-picture projects this year. Give him congrats if you see him online or on the Missouri social circuit.

We don’t have a timetable for filling Tim’s spot, but interested parties should send their resumes to jmcintyre at thebiglead dot com.
