LeBron James Hasn't Spoken to Chris Bosh Since Leaving the Heat - Not Even at Dwyane Wade's Wedding
By Jason McIntyre
LeBron James announced on July 11th that he was signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He left the Miami Heat and his two buddies, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, to return to Ohio where he grew up. Some could see this move coming for weeks; the Heat though, were blindsided. Maybe they were misled, like Dan LeBatard insinuated?
In a mildly surprising revelation, LeBron hasn’t spoken to Bosh since leaving the Heat – no communication at all – and even more odd was that they both were at Wade’s wedding in August but didn’t speak. From ESPN:
"He never made his way over to Chris Bosh’s table because Bosh said James hasn’t spoken to him since he decided to sign with the Cavs in July. James later told friends that having to share the same room with Heat president Pat Riley was uncomfortable that night. It stands to reason it was probably hard to make eye contact with Heat owner Micky Arison or coach Erik Spoelstra as well."
Riley and Wade tried everything they could to convince LeBron to stay, but I’ve yet to read anything about Bosh’s attempts to get LeBron to stay. But on some level, I get it: They were essentially college pals for four years, and after graduation, they were their separate ways. One could argue Bosh displayed impressive self-awareness: He was the third banana, the goofy-but-smart wingman who couldn’t sway LeBron no matter what he said.
LeBron left. It happens. Life goes on. Things change.
And now, they’ll meet again: 5 pm Saturday, in Brazil, for a preseason game. College football games will briefly take a backseat to the best player in the NBA going against his former teammates.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I see the Cavs and Heat meeting in the first round of the playoffs. If it happens, it’ll be a sweep.
