Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao has never been this close to happening: There’s a date (May 2nd, 2015), a purse ($250 million) and a split (60 percent for Floyd, 40 percent for Manny), and all that’s left is the contract to actually be signed. The Telegraph reported those figures, and The Big Lead has been able to confirm them. (We hope to have some exclusive details Wednesday in Inside Blitz.)

Barring some bizarre, late problem – and given these two fighters, there’s definitely a chance of a snafu – the agreement is expected to be signed in the coming days.

This fight should have happened five years ago, but egos and promoters and money got in the way, as is usually the case in boxing. Then, Pacquiao got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012. It was the knockout that spawned a thousand memes.

Now the fighters are past their prime – Mayweather turns 39 later this month, and hasn’t knocked out anyone since 2011; Pacquiao turns 37 in December and hasn’t knocked anyone out since 2009 – but it’ll still be the most talked-about boxing match in years.
