Does NFL Films Have Videotape of LeSean McCoy Threatening to Hit Chip Kelly?
By Jason McIntyre
While Chip Kelly trading his star running back, LeSean McCoy, made a lot of sense for the Eagles, perhaps there was another reason for the trade. According to the website Philadelphia Sports Nation, NFL Films allegedly has footage of McCoy “threatening to hit” Kelly during the team’s regular season finale against the Giants.
The report has not been verified, but perhaps more importantly, there’s some information on the origin of the rumor: An 18-year old high school kid runs the website. Before you dismiss it, consider this: Based on the kid’s twitter feed and facebook page, he’s a short drive down the New Jersey turnpike away from NFL Films headquarters. Is it absurd to think his parents or friends of his parents have a connection at NFL Films?
And it’s not like Kelly hasn’t had a history with his star players in Philadelphia: Remember how DeSean Jackson reportedly cursed him out in front of the team?
Since being traded, McCoy has been extremely vocal about his ugly ending with Kelly, telling Frank Gore not to sign with the Eagles (Gore had a verbal agreement with Philly, then bailed for the Colts), and then ruminating that Kelly doesn’t “respect the stars.” He also told Philly.com:
"“But then you’ve got [quarterback Sam] Bradford. He’s in and out, banged up. The main wide receiver is [Riley] Cooper. The tight end is [Brent] Celek. . . . [Kelly] likes it like that. The tension – the this or that – he doesn’t like that. He don’t like the way you dress."
The Eagles will host the Bills in 2015, but the schedule has not been released yet.
