Top of the Rock Golf Course in Branson, (Mo.) added four new holes yesterday thanks to Mother Nature.

Four sinkholes, including one 60 feet by 80 feet and 35 feet deep, opened up unexpectedly. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the largest one is located near the course’s driving range and scheduled rounds will go on as planned.

"Doug Gouzie, associate professor of geology at Missouri State University, said recent heavy rains in the area likely played “a huge role” in the sinkhole’s formation, Gouzie said. Could there be more collapses at the golf course? “That’s the magic question,” Gouzie said. “If there are other vertical cracks in the rocks where water can wash through, then potentially yes.”"

Well, that’s reassuring. Just one more thing for weekend warriors to think about during their backswings.
