The Michigan Wolverines signed an apparel deal with Nike. The Adidas uniforms were perhaps Michigan fans’ third biggest gripe, behind head football coach and ticketing policies. So, AD Jim Hackett remains undefeated. To commemorate the Wolverines’ dabbling with Adidas, here are some of the lowlights.

Oct 15, 2011: Michigan dressed up like bees on a trip to East Lansing to scare the Michigan State Spartans. The men in green and gold were unfazed.

Jan 1, 2013: Michigan wore their special Outback Bowl uniforms. These getups featured Matte helmets, at Michigan. They also spiced things up with some maize numbering on white jersey that was illegible during an early afternoon game. Those uniforms were kept alive for posterity by the Jadeveon Clowney hit.

Feb 5, 2013: Michigan went with a “Maize” on “Maize” with “Maize” socks and shoes look against Ohio State. This begged an obvious question: highlighters or mustard packets?

March 23, 2013: When aesthetics weren’t a concern, there were quality control issues. Glen Robinson III’s jersey ripped WIDE open during the NCAA tournament against VCU.

Oct 11, 2014: Michigan wore blue pants at home against Penn State. That was a thing someone thought was a good idea.

March 12, 2015: Adidas outfitted the Michigan reserves team with those shorts for the B1G tournament. Because tucking your jersey top into your underwear, visible up to four inches thanks to your sagging shorts is a look you want to emulate with a basketball uniform.

2008 to 2014: It was time for a fresh start.

Because Michigan fans may need an eyeball cleanser…
