Mike Leach Chimed in on Deflategate, Somehow Draws Parallel to Kardashians

Mike Leach made rounds through Bristol today as part of ESPN’s Pac-12 Media Day festivities. The Washington State coach found time to offer up his two cents on the Deflategate mess, somehow tying it to Americans obsession with the Kardashian family with some thoughts on the British Royal family thrown in for good measure.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabath posted this fun quote from Leach onto Twitter Wednesday evening and elaborated here.

The first part of the quote is sensible, as it’s truly astounding we’re still talking about deflated footballs from a game in January at the end of July. Then again we’re well past the point of talking about the actual infraction, instead worrying about the fallout of how Tom Brady, the Patriots and the NFL reacted … over six never-ending months.

And yes, it certainly would be something to see a “forged football” find its way onto an NFL playing field, wouldn’t it?

Leach isn’t the first person to grouse about America’s obsession with celebrities, nor will he be the last. It’s interesting to see how his mind works, though.

He also used his time in Bristol to outline his idea for a 64-team college playoff. The Cougars are 12-25 over Leach’s first three seasons in Pullman.
