The Georgia Football Job is a Good One, But These Coaches are Not Taking It

Georgia may be the nation’s best college football job. Mark Richt has had the burners turned up on his hot seat, after a crushing loss to Florida. Rather than listing potential targets, it seems more prudent to list the college coaches who would, without question, not be interested in Georgia. It’s not a long list.

Urban Meyer: Ohio State and Georgia is basically a wash. Meyer can pull kids from wherever he wants. He’s home. If he leaves the Buckeyes, he’s leaving college coaching.

Jim Harbaugh: A Michigan man who worships Bo Schembechler won’t leave Michigan. Harbaugh won’t go for another college job (and, no, he’s not leaving for NFL destination X in the next few years).

Bill Snyder: He’s 76. He is Kansas State football. I can’t see him typing up that apology letter.

Nick Saban: Texas would have been more money and an exit from the SEC. Alabama will match any dollar figure. Why would he make a lateral at best SEC move to a worse team?

Jim McElwain: He already has the Florida job, which is pretty much the same deal.
