Brett Gardner, who had eight home runs, 52 RBIs, 24 stolen bases and an OPS of .760 last season, will reportedly make $13 million a season beginning in 2015 and will likely finish his career as a New York Yankee. The new deal also includes a fifth-year option for $12.5 million, with a $2 million buyout.

Gardner is 30 years old and played 145 games last season after playing just 16 in 2012.

You may now compile what I presume would be a very lengthy list of all the NFL players that now make less money than the gritty sparkplug of an outfielder.

If you’re not handing your son a glove, bat and ball the second he is born, you’re clearly not thinking of yourself enough.
