Derek Jeter hit a chopper to third base in the third inning of today’s game in Boston to drive in a run. After the hit Joe Girardi signaled to Jeter at first and put in a pinch runner. The Fenway Park  crowd — which paid a classy tribute before the game — saluted Jeter, who tipped his cap and was later seem smiling in the dugout.

Jeter ends his career with 3,465 hits — sixth all time.

Trivia: Jeter’s final hit came off Clay Buchholz. Brian McCann replaced him as a pinch runner, should the question ever arise and you don’t have a smart phone nearby.
