Juan Agudelo assured the U.S. Men’s National Team won another game by the famed 2-0 scoreline vs.  Mexico Wednesday night at the Alamodome. The 2-0 finish is nice, but even better is Jurgen Klinsmann’s team finally holding onto a second-half lead, keeping a clean sheet no less. As a rule of thumb don’t read much into friendlies — especially those played on makeshift grass fields — but this is a nice little morale boost going forward.

That boost should extend to Agudelo as well, since the New England Revolution striker found himself outside the National Team picture for most of 2014 due to a then unsettled club situation. This was his first goal for the United States since 2011 and third overall.

The famed 2-0 scoreline certainly fired up the recently retired Landon Donovan, too.
