Chad le Clos has been weighed, he has been measured and he has been found wanting. The man who directed trash talk at Michael Phelps for a few years following his gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly at the London Olympics, was beaten on Tuesday night.

After shadowboxing and staring Phelps down before their meeting in the semi-finals Monday night, le Clos showed up to the final and finished fourth, while Phelps secured the 20th gold medal of his Olympic career. As the prophet Omar Little once said, “You come at the king, you best not miss.” Le Clos missed by a mile.

The public reacted swiftly and savagely on Wikipedia:

If you can’t read that, it says, “He died by the hands of Michael Phelps, being literally blown out of the water by the greatest American since Abraham Lincoln.”

Boom, roasted.

The 2016 Olympics are the gift that keeps on giving for the Internet.
