Hawk Harrelson Techno Dance Remix is as Horrifying as it Sounds
By Mike Cardillo
Hawk Harrelson is up for the 2014 Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting. No, really, he is, there’s even a Facebook page set up for you to vote and everything.
A visionary marketing genius in the White Sox front office hatched the idea to turn all of the Hawk’s trademark catchphrases — including his stat-guy trolling “TWTW” — into a techno dance mega mix to help his campaign resonante with those EDM-loving kids on their stupid computers. Somebody’s job requirements included turning “He Gone!” and “grab some bench” into bedazzled, drum-and-bass nightmare fuel.
Maybe they were just having a laugh, or as they say across the pond, “taking the piss.”
Either way, I’ve come around a little on Harrelson. We might actually miss it when Hawk and his brand of broadcasters are gone. Maybe.
