NFL Underdogs Are Roaring, and Four Play at Home Sunday
By Jason McIntyre
Picking five NFL games against the spread each week is very difficult. Witness: Noah Coslov is 3-12; I’m 7-8. For the season, 57% would be considered a major success. See this week’s lines here.
One way I’ve clawed out of a hole to start the season: Find out where the public money is, and head the opposite way. Where do you find such information? Oddsshark is a good place to start. It’s pretty clear there are a couple teams that the public loves this week, and they happen to be road favorites: Atlanta and Detroit (at Minnesota and the New York Jets, respectively).
Another decent strategy: Which lines have moved since the start of the week? The Jets went from 1-point favorites, to 1.5-point underdogs. Also, Green Bay, playing in Chicago, went from +1.5 to -1.5.
At the risk of giving away my picks, watch the video, mock me later.
Note: The Raiders didn’t actually fly back to LA after the New England loss and then to London. They went straight to London.
