Tom Brady Won't Play in Week 5 vs the Cowboys, But Greg Hardy Will

Now that Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension has been upheld, this fact shows just how much of a disaster the NFL’s disciplinary system is:

Do you need to remember what Greg Hardy was accused of last year? Did you want to see the list of guns he had on a bed he threw his girlfriend on?

Greg Hardy got his NFL suspension reduced from 10 games to four.

Tom Brady? He may or may not have taken a tiny amount of PSI out of some footballs. He smashed his cell phone rather than revealing evidence. He got a 4-game suspension.

The Washington Post wrote about how FUBAR the current NFL disciplinary system is:

"By inserting himself into every phase of the process, Goodell eliminated any feasible outcome that would reflect well on the league. He commissioned the (allegedly independent) investigation. His hand-picked executive vice president, Troy Vincent, issued Brady’s punishment. He heard Brady’s appeal. Each step lacked consistency and dripped with conflict: The Wells Report included questionable science, the punishment was handed down without precedent and the appeal was ruled on by an obviously biased arbiter."

Tom Brady’s going to file an injunction so that he can hopefully play while the case winds its way through the court system, but right now, his suspension would keep him out of a Week 5 game against the Cowboys. New England has a bye in Week 4.

Brady would then return for a Week 6 game against … the Colts. That’s whereDeflateGate began in January.
