5 Picks Against the Spread: Can the Favorites Go 9-3 Again?

Picking five NFL games against the spread each week is terribly difficult. We’re using lines from the Hilton SuperContest, and remember, 57 percent is considered good. CineSport’s Noah Coslov went 3-2 last week to improve to 21-29 on the year. Jason went 4-1 to improve to 31-19, and it would have been another 5-0 if Doug Marrone had just kicked a field goal. This is probably a good week to fade him.

I know you’ve had the feeling – you’re playing above the rim with a girl you have no business dating. You know there’s no way that this will last because come on, this girl is just tremendous on every level. What’s she doing with a schlub like you?

So you wait and wait and wait for things to unravel.

That’s where I am now – waiting for this little run to end. And this has to be the week. The card is lethal – Super Bowl contenders like the Eagles, Seahawks, Patriots and Lions are all road underdogs. Underdogs have treated me well this season, but as a reminder, Favorites went an astonishing 9-3 last Sunday.

Those attractive dogs are all terribly flawed, and upon closer inspection, all have looked very suspect (at times) on the road in the last six weeks. What to make of teams like the Bengals, Panthers, Bears and Raiders, all of whom hit rock bottom last week in embarrassing blowouts.

Will their run of suck continue, or will they turn it around?

Maybe if I say it enough times, it’ll finally sink it – nobody is as good (Packers) or as bad (Bengals) as they were last week.
