Rex Ryan Has Reportedly Cleaned Out His Office

Rex Ryan is apparently convinced Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins will be the last one he’ll coach for the New York Jets.

The addition of Charley Casserly as a consultant serves as rather large handwriting on the wall for both Ryan and general manager John Idzik. Casserly has already begun the process of contacting replacements for the pair, according to a report from NJ Advance Media.

"Ryan has not yet been informed of his fate, a person familiar with his thinking said. But that same person also said Ryan had learned Casserly was contacting other coaching candidates, and that Ryan had already cleared out his office at One Jets Drive."

There is nothing sadder than the image of a grown man solemnly shoveling all of his knick knacks into a cardboard box. At least Ryan doesn’t have the indignity of a totally unnecessary security guard monitoring the process.

Ryan’s Jets are a woeful 3-12 this season. The team has a 45-50 regular-season record under Ryan, but have failed to reach .500 in the past four seasons.
